i hate to see charley weis go because of his great recruiting but a head coach has the responsibility of producing a good defense which is missing during his tenure.

      To All Irish fans :

I wish everyone could just be get a grip on reality and step away from all this ” Fire
Charlie ” talk . It is very irresposible and
damaging to the institution and the fanbase,
not to mention Charlie’s family and those of the
his staff. The talk from some of these tv
people is kind of unbelieveable – who are they
anyway – most of them couldn’t play or
coach anyway. Notre Dame must maintain
decide who they want to be. Either the an
elite program or just another program . Why
would be interested in Urban Meyer. If
Florida had to recruit players to meet the
standards ND has do you think he would have
the success he has had ? Besides the the
guy tries to suspend a guy for a half sfter
the player tries to injure an opposing player
for going for his eyes. Giimme a break – who
wants someone like that at ND – not me.

Charlie will stay for several reasons:
The University will not fork out the money to buyout his contract.
There are no viable options–no one with a brain would want the job.
And Charlie should stay so he can continue to suffer along with the contributing Alumni who continue to get either crappy seats or crappy games.

      To the ticket office:
Were the alumni who went San Antonio thrilled with seats at top deck, last row and who paid $68 for seats that were less good than the $35 dollar seats the Alamodome was offering? NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I can tolerate losing–God knows we are used to it–but to lose because we aren’t fit/strong enough, smart enough, and wise enough to recognize where we are weak and where we are strong and do it every week; that is pathetic.

But Charlie should stay and earn every single dollar he “earned” during his head coaching appenticeship by taking the abuse he will also continue to earn between now and 2015.

And to idiot who wrote in Blue and Gold that we should stop playing Navy should remember (or learn) that if it wasn’t for the U.S. Navy Notre Dame would not exist today. It would have disappeared during WWII.–because, you twit, all the healthy kids were at war.

I do thank Charlie for keeping my blood pressure elevated every Saturday.

Lastly, can we please stay out of the garbage bowl this year. It will save us from enduring one additional embarrassment or “so what” event.

This rant is all about coaching–not the kids. They quality people who do what they are told. Any “QUALITY” coach in America would love to have them. So they should be proud and enjoy the great education they have or are receiving at the greatest University in the world.
